Another plein air piece for my Summer series of paintings I'm executing for my next solo show. We've had some wonderful skyscapes around these parts of late.

Painting in a Kayak

I've been fortunate to be able to get out onto the water in my kayak and paint what I'm seeing of late. I have a small 6x8 pochade box that I take along because of its portability and size; not much room in the cockpit of my skin boat.  I'm loving it and look forward to doing more.

Here's an en plein air piece from about a month ago when the weather was unseasonably warm. There is a small pond that I call Wellington Pond that is a favourite spot of mine to hang out at, lots of interesting things going on there if one spends the time to look and listen.

I was digging around in my box of small paintings this afternoon and came across this en plein air piece I did last summer. The funny thing is that another painter painted the same painting, she must have been sitting in the exact same place I was. Good eye. I just finished this and it started to rain. Love how they bring back memories.

Spring Breakup

It was a particularly nice morning to paint outdoors so I packed my paint box and headed out to look for a nice place to sit and enjoy the springlike weather. Good thing I did because the weather changed the next day and we are back into winter for awhile.

Inspired by the Land

I was inspired to paint this en plien air piece last Sunday, it was a beautifully mild day, unseasonable for this time of the year but great to be sitting outdoors doing what I love.  A friend of mine posted a short video on my Facebook page called "Inspired by the Land" which is a commentary on how Artists respond and interact with Nature, very inspiring to see it and the people I know that are featured in the piece.
